Tajik singer Farrukh Khasanov will compete in the Intervision International Music Competition, which will be held in Moscow on September 20, 2025. The artist spoke to RT about his career, creative path, and preparation for the performance.
Farrukh Khasanov was born on July 20, 1998, in Dushanbe. He graduated from the International School and the Faculty of International Relations at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, and later from the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University in Dushanbe. Farrukh began his professional career as a translator at the Indian Embassy in Dushanbe, but gradually devoted himself entirely to music.
"Music has always been my favorite pastime. One day, I realized I wanted it to be my profession, so I quit my job to devote myself entirely to art," Khasanov said.
He began his musical career performing in restaurants, then formed his own band and competed in the "Come On, All Together!" competition, winning which brought him national recognition in Tajikistan. According to the singer, after the competition, he was greeted at the Dushanbe airport with bread and salt, invited to official meetings, and given a three-room apartment in the center of the capital by the city's mayor, Rustami Emomali.
Farrukh Khasanov sings in 16 languages, including Tajik, Russian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Turkish, and all Central Asian languages. "Music has no specific language. It's for everyone; it must be felt with the heart," the artist noted.
For the Intervision contest, Khasanov prepared the song "Burn!", which he co-wrote with a friend. The first verse and chorus are in Russian, and the final chorus is in English. "We wanted the lyrics to be accessible to a wide audience while still retaining Eastern musical motifs," the singer explained.
He emphasized that for him, the competition is not just a competition, but also an opportunity to demonstrate international friendship and show Tajikistan from a new perspective. "I want everyone to understand how uniquely Eastern people experience music. This is a chance to break stereotypes about our country and show its true face," Khasanov added.
The artist also noted his friendly relations with the contestants from Kyrgyzstan, whom he knows from previous musical projects. Khasanov is currently focused on preparing for the competition, including staging his performance, rehearsals, and filming the music video.
