A fundraising campaign has been launched in Uzbekistan to support Tajik and Uzbek football legend and former Spartak and Lokomotiv Moscow player Mukhsin Mukhammadiev, who is recovering from several strokes he suffered earlier this year. Fergana.ru reports.
Currently, 58-year-old Mukhsin Muslimovich is undergoing treatment in a Moscow clinic and requires complex surgical treatment and subsequent rehabilitation.
A charity match featuring Dynamo veterans and former players of the Uzbekistan and Tajikistan national teams will take place in Samarkand on September 6. The match will be held under the motto "Mukhsin, We Are With You." Admission is 20,000 soums ($1.70). All proceeds will go to help Mukhsin Muhammadiyev.
Mukhsin Mukhammadiev is a product of Pakhtakor Kurgan-Tyube's youth system. He began his professional career with Pamir Dushanbe, where he became one of the club's all-time top scorers. Over the years, he played for Lokomotiv, Spartak, and Torpedo Moscow, Bukhara and Dynamo Samarkand in Uzbekistan, and Austria's Austria Wien. He also played for the Russian and Tajikistan national teams.
In his coaching and management career, he worked with Vityaz Podolsk, Bukhara, Ordabasy (Shymkent) of Kazakhstan, Istiklol of Dushanbe, and the Tajikistan national team. For four years, he served as sporting director of Rubin Kazan; during this period, the club won the Russian Championship, Cup, and Super Cup. In 2022, Mukhammadiev was invited to the position of First Vice President of Istiklol, where he served for a year and a half. In 2024, he took over as director of Vakhsh, which currently leads the Tajikistan Championship.
