Tajik President Emomali Rahmon inaugurated the renovated road from the Rogun-Obi Garm junction to the center of Rogun, and also launched the strategically important Obi Garm-Nurobod route. This was reported by the presidential press service.
An 11-kilometer section of road in the city of Rogun was paved as part of a comprehensive improvement and infrastructure development program. According to Rahmon, the upgraded highway creates conditions for free traffic flow and improves the city's connections with other regions of the country.
"Roads are a vital factor in economic and social progress and create the foundation for a dignified life for people. The construction and renovation of roads in the city of Rogun is also part of this constructive policy," the head of state noted.
Emomali Rahmon emphasized that the upgraded road plays a key role in the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station. He stated that the new roads ensure the timely delivery of construction materials, machinery, and equipment, as well as the free movement of workers and specialists.
Continuing his working visit to the Nurobod district, the President also opened the 75-kilometer Obi Garm-Nurobod road, connecting the capital with the administrative centers of the Rasht Valley. The new route meets technical class III standards and is 12 meters wide.
To ensure traffic safety and reduce travel times, three road tunnels were built as part of the project: "35th Anniversary of Independence" (2,605 m), "Vahdat" (1,700 m), and "Oriyono" (1,600 m). Their commissioning shortened the road by 24 km and significantly reduced fuel consumption. The tunnels are equipped with modern lighting, ventilation, and communication systems.
In addition, 14 road bridges with a total length of over 1,150 meters have been constructed along challenging sections of the highway. They ensure uninterrupted traffic flow and create conditions for sustainable logistics in the region. Spillways have been installed along the road, slopes have been reinforced, and recreation areas with decorative plantings have been created.
The President of Tajikistan thanked the construction workers, noting that the new facility will contribute to the development of domestic and foreign trade, attract investment, strengthen tourism, and generally improve the quality of life of the population.
