Khujand Mayor Firdavs Sharifzoda provided charitable assistance to 25 orphans studying in the city's educational institutions, the mayor's office press service reported .
The ceremony took place in the assembly hall of the library of Comprehensive School No. 28. In accordance with the instructions of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the Governor of the Sughd Region, Rajab Akhmadzoda, the mayor presented the children with clothing and school supplies.
During his conversation with the students, Sharifzoda emphasized that the head of state regularly meets with orphans during his working visits to the country's regions. He said that festive events are organized for them, tables are set, and gifts—clothing, shoes, books, and sweets—are presented on behalf of the President, as well as financial assistance.
"In Tajikistan, orphans are under the constant care of the state and government until they reach adulthood. Support for children left without care and individuals with disabilities is an important aspect of the country's social policy," Sharifzoda noted.
As the press service added, the state continues to focus on strengthening institutions for orphans and improving the quality of their upbringing and education so that they can become full members of society in the future.
The event concluded with the presentation of clothing and school supplies to 25 orphans in the city of Khujand.
