Tajikistan celebrates Medical Worker's Day today. Ceremonies dedicated to this date and the 1045th anniversary of the birth of the eminent Tajik scientist Abu Ali ibn Sina took place in the capital on the morning of August 18. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic.
As a sign of respect and gratitude, medical workers laid wreaths at the monument to Abu Ali ibn Sina in front of the Tajik State Medical University, which bears his name. The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health, representatives of the city health department, university faculty, and medical workers.
In his address to the event's participants, Minister of Health and Social Protection Jamoliddin Abdullozoda noted that Avicenna's name occupies a special place in the history of world science. "Abu'ali ibn Sina was a brilliant thinker whose works had a profound impact on the development of medicine. His 'Canon of Medicine' remained the primary textbook for physicians in many countries for centuries," the minister emphasized.
Abdullozoda recalled that a number of initiatives to perpetuate the memory of the great scientist have been implemented in independent Tajikistan: a university, a district, a state award, and several institutions have been named after him. He also emphasized that in independent Tajikistan, the health of the people is considered a national asset and a strategic priority for the state.
According to him, hundreds of modern medical facilities have been built and commissioned in the country since independence, a result of the far-sighted policies of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. "We, medical workers, feel the constant support of the country's leadership, and as soldiers of health, we serve the people with dedication and responsibility," the minister said.
