In the first half of 2025, 592 hectares of new orchards and vineyards were planted in Tajikistan. This was reported to journalists by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan at a final press conference.
According to official data, out of a total area of 592 hectares, 511 hectares are new orchards, including 106 hectares of the intensive type, and 81 hectares are new vineyards.
As part of the agrarian reform, 2,521 hectares of old orchards and vineyards were also restored. The Ministry of Agriculture notes that the use of modern agricultural machinery and adherence to agricultural standards are creating sustainable conditions for increased crop yields and enhancing the country's export potential.
During the reporting period, the following work was carried out to care for perennial plantings:
-
inter-row cultivation and thinning of vegetation – on 99,814 hectares,
-
tree formation – on 112,772 hectares,
-
frost protection measures – on 63,563 hectares,
-
chemical treatment – on 89,851 hectares.
These measures, as experts emphasize, have significantly reduced pest numbers and contributed to the improvement of agricultural landscapes.
To ensure sustainable development of the industry and food security, the "Program for the Development of Horticulture, Viticulture, and Citrus Growing for 2025–2029" was approved. The program aims to increase the area under cultivation, reduce dependence on imports, and increase exports of domestic products.
