Tajikistan is experiencing rapid growth in digital financial instruments. As of June 30, 2025, the total number of bank payment cards in circulation reached 9.1 million, an increase of 20.5% (1.6 million) compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the National Bank of Tajikistan during a press conference dedicated to the results of the first half of this year.
According to the data released, over the same period, the number of registered e-wallets in the country reached 15.7 million, representing a 50.8% (5.3 million) increase compared to June 30, 2024. This growth reflects the increasing penetration of digital payment solutions into citizens' daily lives and the rapid development of financial technologies.
To expand the infrastructure for cashless payments, 12,369 electronic terminals have been installed at retail and service establishments across the republic. This represents a 7.2% (833 units) increase compared to the same period last year. Of this total, 5,659 devices are designed for accepting cashless payments for government services, representing a 6.9% (365 terminals) increase compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, as part of the digitalization of payments, 25,388 unified QR codes have been deployed across the country, enabling payments using mobile devices. This figure represents a 54.1% increase (8,916 QR codes) compared to last year. Of these, 3,922 codes are used for payment of government services, representing a 44.4% (1,205 QR codes) increase compared to 2024.
The National Bank emphasizes that these achievements are the result of targeted efforts to develop the digital economy, expand public access to financial services, and create a modern payment infrastructure.
