The Center for Combating Disinformation has begun operations within the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazinform reports.
The new structure will become an important element in ensuring citizens' right to receive reliable information.
Among the main tasks of the Center:
- identification and refutation of false information;
- Providing citizens with objective, verified data on important topics;
- development of a culture of responsible information consumption.
In a time of information overload, it's especially important to distinguish facts from deliberate distortions. The new Center will serve as a tool for navigating the information flow.
The work will be carried out in collaboration with government agencies, the expert community, journalists, and citizens.
The creation of the Center is a logical step toward creating a sustainable communications environment based on real facts, responsibility, and trust in information.
The center will publish regular reviews of fake news, demonstrate manipulation cases, and provide expert clarifications on high-profile information topics. The launch will be accompanied by the posting of information on official social media resources, aimed at providing simple and clear explanations of complex information processes.
Kyrgyzstan previously introduced fines for fake news in the media and online.
