International Master from Tajikistan Muhammad Khusenkhodjaev won a prize at the 49th Open Internacional d'Escacs Vila de Sitges international chess tournament, which ended on July 30 in the Spanish city of Sitges.
According to the International Chess Federation (FIDE), following nine rounds played according to the Swiss system, Muhammad Khusenkhodjaev scored 7 points out of a possible 9 and took third place in the overall standings.
His brother, FIDE Master Mustafokhuja Khusenkhodjaev, also participated in the tournament and scored 6 points, finishing in 11th place.
Over 100 chess players from around the world took part in the chess battles. The games were played with a classic time control: 90 minutes per game with a 30-second increment per move.
The Khusenkhodjaev brothers are among Tajikistan's leading chess players. Muhammad represents the country's national Olympic team and is one of the country's most decorated players.
