Tajik freestyle wrestler Magomed Yevloyev won a silver medal at the Imre and Varga Yanos Memorial International Freestyle Wrestling Rating Tournament, which is taking place in the capital of Hungary. This was reported on Friday by the Wrestling Federation of Tajikistan.
Evloev competed in the 79 kg weight category. On his way to the final, he won confident victories over opponents from Germany, India and Greece. In the decisive fight, he lost to a representative of the Georgian team, taking second place and bringing Tajikistan a silver medal at the prestigious tournament.
"This is an important result ahead of the licensed starts. Yevloyev showed good form and technique," the Wrestling Federation of the Republic emphasized.
Another representative of Tajikistan, Abdulmadzhid Kudiev, was also registered for the tournament, but was unable to take part in the competition due to visa problems.
The tournament in Budapest is part of an international series of ranking competitions, the results of which are taken into account when qualifying for the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
