On July 2, 2025, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan held the second meeting of the coordination group for the implementation of the Healthy Nation of Tajikistan project for the first half of 2025. The event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Health Gafur Mukhsinzoda, Deputy Minister Abdukholik Amirzoda, project coordinator Bakhodur Kholnazar, representatives of the ministry's departments, heads of educational institutions, as well as specialists from primary health care institutions in pilot cities and districts. Some participants connected via videoconference from the regions, the press service of the ministry reported .
The Healthy Nation of Tajikistan project aims to achieve the strategic goal of human capital development envisaged in the Strategy for the Protection of Population Health of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2030. Particular attention is paid to the priority investment plan, which covers primary health care, health system financing, human resources and digitalization. This plan serves as a tool for coordinating financing between the government and international partners and ensures annual monitoring of the strategy’s implementation.
In addition, the project contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 3.8, by ensuring access of the entire population to quality and affordable health services and improving the primary health care system.
Project Coordinator Bahodur Kholnazar spoke in detail about the goals, objectives and management structure of the project.
Head of the Department of Reforms and International Relations Olimdzhon Mannonov reported on the first component of the project – improving the quality of primary health care through strengthening PHC institutions.
The second component – reforms to improve the efficiency of the KATS network with an emphasis on strategic procurement of services – was discussed by the head of the reform and budget planning department, Zainullo Sharipov.
The digitalization of healthcare in a number of target districts, including eight districts of the Sughd region and primary health care institutions in Dushanbe, was presented by the Director of the Republican Center for Medical Statistics and Information Shamsullozoda Manuchehr.
Particular attention was paid to preparing and responding to emergencies in the healthcare system, said Said Khaidar Davlatzoda, head of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Safety, Emergencies and Emergency Medical Care.
At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed current issues related to the project’s implementation and exchanged opinions and proposals for the further development of the initiative.
