On the morning of May 5, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a telephone conversation with the chairmen of the Rasht and Tajikabad districts – Zarina Idizoda and Kadriddin Fakerzoda, the press service of the head of state reported.
During the conversation, the head of state heard reports from the chairmen of both districts, primarily on the progress of the elimination of the consequences of natural disasters, the restoration of damaged households and facilities, and the construction of new housing for families whose homes were completely destroyed. It was noted that in accordance with the instructions of the President of the country, work is underway in all areas, including the elimination of the consequences of the strong earthquake of April 13, the restoration of people's homes and other damaged buildings and structures, as well as the collective construction of new households and institutions. The chairmen of both districts informed the head of state that the elimination of the consequences of natural disasters is in full swing after receiving timely assistance, such as food, medicines and other medical supplies, residential tents, building materials, necessary machinery and equipment, as well as on the elimination of the consequences of natural disasters with the involvement of a sufficient number of workers due to rescuers and military personnel of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, and other law enforcement agencies.
Emomali Rahmon stressed that the work must be done in good quality and at a high pace, and efforts must also be made to quickly create living conditions for the affected people.
The head of state also drew attention to the progress of agricultural work, including spring sowing, and gave instructions and orders for the organized, timely, high-quality conduct of work and the effective use of every inch of arable land. It was emphasized that serious attention should be paid to planting potatoes, which are called the "second bread", so that a bountiful harvest of the root crop could be obtained.
Emomali Rahmon also held telephone conversations on these issues with the heads of a number of relevant ministries and departments and gave them specific instructions to speed up the necessary work.
