The 20th Asian Games will be held in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026. Tajikistan will send a sports delegation of 187 people, including 107 athletes, to the competition.
As reported by the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a farewell ceremony for the country's sports delegation to the Asian Games was held on September 11, 2026.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Dilrabo Mansuri noted that each athlete's participation in competitions of this level is not only an opportunity to demonstrate professional skills, but also a way to represent Tajikistan and its national values.
Zulfikor Gulahmadzoda, Chairman of the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, emphasized that athletic results are the result of serious preparation, the work of coaches, and constant effort. Therefore, he stated, each member of the national team is required to demonstrate a high level of responsibility, professional excellence, and dedication to the Motherland.
During the event, boxer Mijgona Samadova was elected as the flag bearer of the national team of the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the XX Asian Games, Tajik athletes will compete in 22 sports.
The Asian Games are held every four years. At the previous competition, held in 2022 in Hangzhou, China, Tajik judokas won three medals.
Somon Makhmadbekov won the gold medal in the 81-kilogram weight category. Temur Rakhimov won silver in the over 100-kilogram weight category. Bekhruz Khodjazoda won bronze in the 73-kilogram weight category.
