Twenty-nine countries signed the Agreement Establishing the World Organization for Artificial Intelligence Cooperation. The signing ceremony took place in Shanghai. The newly created organization will be an independent international intergovernmental body headquartered in Shanghai. On behalf of the Chinese Government, the document was signed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Representatives of Kazakhstan, Laos, Pakistan, Russia, Indonesia, and other countries also signed the document, thus becoming founding members. Among the officials from countries and international organizations present at the signing ceremony was UN Secretary-General António Guterres. According to the agreement, the new organization will be guided by the purposes of the UN Charter, based on the principles of broad consultation, shared contribution, and shared benefit, and will adhere to a human-centered approach. The organization's activities will be aimed at promoting international cooperation and global governance in the field of AI, ensuring its healthy and orderly development in a beneficial, safe, and equitable manner for the benefit of all humanity.
