During the first half of 2026, specialists from the Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification, and Trade Inspection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan tested the quality of over 605,000 tons of petroleum products. Based on the test results, 81.4 tons of fuel and petroleum bitumen were found to be substandard.
According to the department, the petroleum product testing laboratory tested 2,565 batches of fuels and lubricants with a total volume of 605,097.9 tons over six months.

In addition, to assess the quality of petroleum products sold on the domestic market, 556 product samples with a total volume of 18,172 tons were collected and analyzed from gas stations and points of sale.
Based on laboratory testing, nine samples of fuel and petroleum bitumen totaling 81.4 tons were found to be non-compliant with established requirements. The main violations concerned the octane number, sulfur content, and fractional composition of the petroleum products.
The Agency noted that fuel and lubricant quality control is aimed at protecting consumer interests, ensuring the safe operation of vehicles, and ensuring compliance with current technical requirements for the sale of petroleum products on the domestic market. Fuel quality monitoring will continue.
