As of June 1, 2026, Tajikistan's electricity receivables reached 3 billion 835.2 million somoni, including debt from previous years. In the first six months of this year, the amount receivable increased by another 202.4 million somoni, or 5.6%.
The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan reported this in a report on the industry's performance in the first half of 2026.
The largest amount of debt is owed by the population – 1 billion 126.8 million somoni.
The debt of Tajik Aluminum Company OJSC to Distribution Electric Networks OJSC alone amounted to 991.4 million somoni.
The Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation owes 322.4 million somoni, while housing and utilities companies owe 126.3 million somoni. The debts of budgetary organizations and institutions have reached 100.4 million somoni.
Another 1 billion 159.5 million somoni of debt is owed by other enterprises.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy reports an increase in electricity bill collection. Total revenues on the domestic market in the first half of the year reached 4 billion 244.9 million somoni, or 96.1% of the target.
Compared to the same period last year, payment collection increased by 1 billion 242.4 million somoni, or 41.4%.
A total of 1 billion 625.3 million somoni was collected from the population. The collection rate for this category was 97.7%, and the total revenue increased by 401.5 million somoni, or 32.8%.
Thus, despite a significant increase in current electricity charges, total accounts receivable in the country's energy sector continued to grow.
