The second meeting of the Tajik-Turkmen Business Council took place in Dushanbe on July 7. Representatives from the two countries discussed the development of trade, investment cooperation, and direct ties between entrepreneurs, according to the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan.
The meeting was co-chaired by Farkhodshhoh Rahmonalizoda, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan, and Mergen Gurdov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
It is noted that the event took place as part of the implementation of agreements between the presidents of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
More than 35 representatives from Turkmenistan, including government officials and private sector representatives, attended the meeting. The Turkmen delegation included executives and representatives from 20 leading companies and enterprises in the country.
The Tajik side was represented by employees of the Ministries of Economic Development and Trade, Agriculture and Industry, as well as the State Committees for Investment and State Property Management, Tourism Development, and the Customs Service.
The meeting was also attended by the heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Sughd and Khatlon regions and representatives of the private sector of Tajikistan, including members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Opening the meeting, Farkhodshhoh Rahmonalizoda stated that relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan had reached a new level. He stated that the development of bilateral ties had created favorable conditions for attracting major foreign investment and expanding private sector activity.
The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan also spoke about the activities and achievements of the Chamber and the current state of economic cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that, despite the positive dynamics of bilateral trade, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan have significant untapped potential for further increasing trade turnover.
In turn, Mergen Gurdov expressed gratitude to the Tajik side for the reception and stated the readiness of Turkmenistan's business community to expand cooperation and utilize the opportunities of the Tajik-Turkmen Business Council.
According to him, large industrial, chemical, and logistics enterprises in Turkmenistan are interested in strengthening direct contacts with Tajik entrepreneurs and implementing joint investment projects in Tajikistan.
During the meeting, representatives of Tajikistan presented the country's investment opportunities, the benefits and advantages of free economic zones, and the potential of the tourism industry.
The Turkmen side, in turn, acquainted the participants with Turkmenistan's transport, logistics, and investment opportunities. The information was presented in the form of industry-specific presentations.
Following the meeting, direct B2B meetings were held between representatives of the business communities of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
