In Dushanbe, a nine-year-old child was taken from his mother and sent to a boarding school after repeated incidents of vagrancy and begging on the city streets, according to the Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the department, officers from the Ismoili Somoni District Department of Internal Affairs repeatedly brought nine-year-old Dushanbe resident N.N., who was engaged in vagrancy and begging, to the police station.
During the investigation, police officers discovered that the child's mother's neglect had left him outside of his education and upbringing. As a result, the minor spent his time on the streets of Dushanbe, wandering and begging.
In this regard, the necessary documents were prepared against the child's mother. Article 73 of the Family Code of the Republic of Tajikistan was then applied to her.
Based on a ruling by the Ismoili Somoni District Court, the nine-year-old child was removed from his mother and sent to the state-run Boarding School No. 1 for Orphans and Children Left Without Parental Care in Dushanbe for education and upbringing.
The Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that neglect and irresponsible attitudes of some parents toward the upbringing and education of their children can lead to minors withdrawing from their studies and becoming involved in criminal activity, vagrancy, begging, and other illegal activities.
The agency called on citizens, especially parents, not to leave children unattended and to take a responsible approach to their upbringing and education.
