The Anti-Corruption Agency, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, has introduced the practice of preventive visits to correctional facilities and pre-trial detention centers for civil servants. This was reported by the agency's press service.
The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Action Plan for the Prevention of Corruption for 2026, approved by the National Anti-Corruption Council.
As noted by the organizers, the main goal of such events is to clearly demonstrate to civil servants the grave consequences of corruption offenses, to develop an understanding of the inevitability of legal consequences for any illegal actions, to increase responsibility for using official powers exclusively in the interests of the state and society, and to strengthen commitment to the principles of integrity and the rule of law.

The first such event was attended by the leadership and senior staff of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, as well as the Cadastral Agency of Uzbekistan.
During the visit, participants were introduced to the premises used for investigative actions, detention cells, and other infrastructure facilities of the institutions.
In addition, meetings were organized for civil servants with individuals serving sentences for corruption crimes.

The convicts shared specific examples from their own lives about the consequences of their unlawful decisions. They said such actions negatively impacted not only their own lives, but also the lives of their families, children, professional careers, and public reputations.
It is emphasized that such conversations help civil servants understand that the consequences of corruption are not limited to criminal liability or imprisonment. They can also cause serious damage to an individual's future, their family's well-being, and their social standing.
In the future, similar visits are planned to be organized in stages for the heads of other ministries and departments, as well as for employees in areas with increased corruption risks.
To ensure openness and transparency, it is planned to widely involve representatives of the media and civil society institutions in participation in these events.
The Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan stated that it intends to continue to consistently implement preventative measures aimed at fostering a zero-tolerance attitude toward corruption among public servants and eliminating corruption risk factors. Particular attention will be paid to preventing corruption, not just punishing offenses.
