The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan confirmed a traffic accident involving the official vehicle of Alisher Mirzonabot, Chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. This was reported in an urgent statement from the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the department, on June 17, 2026, at approximately 10:40 a.m., the driver of a white Toyota Land Cruiser 200 with state registration number 287, TJ Muborakshoev Sino Mekhrobshoevich, was driving along the Dushanbe-Khorog highway.
At the 282nd kilometer of the highway, between the villages of Zigar and Yakhchisor in the Darvaz district, the driver, as noted in a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was traveling at high speed, lost control, and caused a traffic accident.
According to the agency, the vehicle, due to excessive speed, collided with border engineering structures, damaged two supports and a barbed wire fence, and then plunged into the Panj River.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the official vehicle was carrying the chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Alisher Mirzonabot, his assistant, Sadonsho Ramazonshoevich Dzhanobilshoev, the wife of the head of the region, and his young child.
The vehicle's state registration number and individual parts of the vehicle were found at the scene of the incident.
On the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ramazon Rahimzoda, the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Saimumin Yatimov, the Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Rajabali Rahmonali, as well as other responsible officials arrived at the scene of the incident.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that the investigation into this incident is under the direct control of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
