On June 16, during a telephone conversation, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon heard a report from Khatlon Region Chairman Davlatali Said on the progress of agricultural work in the region. This was reported by the presidential press service.
According to the source, the head of the Khatlon region reported on the progress of the grain, fruit, and vegetable harvest. During the meeting, the president instructed to expedite the second sowing and ensure the efficient use of irrigated arable land.
Particular attention was paid to the situation on the Panj River. Davlatali Said informed the head of state about the ongoing work to strengthen the riverbanks due to rising temperatures and rising water levels.
Following the report, Emomali Rahmon gave the regional leadership specific instructions to accelerate coastal protection work and strengthen water level monitoring.
The president heard telephone reports from the chairmen of the Mir Said Ali Hamadoni, Farkhor, and Panj districts on the same issues. The district leaders were instructed to ensure the timely harvesting of agricultural produce and to effectively organize bank stabilization work along the Panj River.
In addition, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, as well as the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation, have been instructed to take direct control of the situation related to rising water levels in the Panj, Farkhor, and Mir Said Ali Hamadoni districts of Khatlon Region.
In accordance with the head of state's instructions, relevant agencies, together with local government authorities, must take timely measures to monitor the situation and carry out the necessary work.
