On June 9, 2026, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan Vafo Niyatbekzoda met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Bashimova and Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustamova. This was reported by the press service of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Turkmenistan.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).


The meeting participants noted that Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are active participants in international cooperation in the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage. In this regard, the importance of further strengthening cooperation within UNESCO's relevant mechanisms was emphasized.
The parties also exchanged views on opportunities for mutual support within the framework of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Following the meeting, representatives of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to the further development of Tajik-Turkmen cooperation both at the bilateral level and within the framework of international organizations, including UNESCO.
