The State Council of the People's Republic of China has published a plan to accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).
The plan aims to accelerate agricultural and rural modernization to advance China's modernization, and outlines key tasks and policies for the period.
According to the plan, by 2030, the country's food security will steadily improve; the quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of agriculture will be further enhanced; and achievements in poverty alleviation will be strengthened and expanded.
The plan calls for a significant increase in the level of scientific and technological independence and self-sufficiency in agriculture, achieving major breakthroughs in transforming agriculture into a modern large-scale industry, and continuing relatively rapid growth in farmers' incomes by 2030.
The plan also proposes to intensify efforts to build harmonious and beautiful villages that are comfortable for living and working, and calls for achieving new breakthroughs in the integrated development of urban and rural areas, as well as significant results in high-quality agricultural and rural development.
