Seasonal restrictions on heavy-duty vehicle traffic have been introduced in Tajikistan. This was reported by the State Service for Control and Regulation in Transport of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The restrictions are in effect from May 1 to August 31, during periods when daytime temperatures exceed 25 degrees Celsius and asphalt surfaces become more vulnerable to deformation under significant loads.
According to established regulations, during this period, vehicles weighing over 6 tons are prohibited from driving on paved roads from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Such vehicles are permitted to travel primarily at night.
The transport department explained that this measure was adopted in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the introduction of seasonal restrictions on the weight and axle load of vehicles traveling on public roads." Its purpose is to protect the road surface from damage that may occur in hot weather.
Violation of established requirements is subject to administrative liability. The fine ranges from 50 to 70 calculated units, equivalent to 3,900 to 5,460 somoni.
According to the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the State Budget for 2026", from January 1 of this year, the size of the calculated indicator was set at 78 somoni.
