Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Beijing. The leaders discussed bilateral relations and witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents. The Chinese President also presented the Serbian President with the Order of Friendship of the People's Republic of China.
The meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić began with a welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Later, the two leaders moved on to the main part – the official talks. The Chinese president began by stating that China and Serbia have achieved “positive results” since jointly launching the construction of a China-Serbia community with a shared future for the new era in 2024. He said this partnership has not only benefited both peoples but also set a model for international relations. Xi Jinping described the Chinese-Serbian friendship as an “iron friendship” based on deep historical ties and mutual trust. He called on both sides to strengthen exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and continue to support each other on issues affecting their core interests. The Chinese president also emphasized the need to align development strategies and advance cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, including projects in transportation, energy, and infrastructure. He called on both countries to expand cooperation in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, the digital economy, green energy, and advanced manufacturing.
Aleksandar Vučić, in turn, congratulated China on the launch of its 15th Five-Year Plan and expressed confidence in China's future development under the leadership of President Xi Jinping. He stated that Serbia highly values its relations with China and firmly supports China on issues concerning its core interests. Vučić thanked Chinese companies for their contributions to Serbia's economic development and infrastructure construction. He noted that the two countries have made significant progress since the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership, with cooperation expanding across many sectors. The Serbian president also praised China's role in international affairs, stating that China consistently treats small countries with equality and respect, upholding international law.
Following the talks, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of more than 20 cooperation agreements covering politics, trade, science and technology, education, the judiciary, and culture. The two sides also issued joint statements on their consistent efforts to build a China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era and on jointly promoting the implementation of four global initiatives.
