On May 25, a ceremony was held at the Palace of the Nation to award the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, with a certificate of recognition from the UN University for Peace, the presidential press service reported.

The prestigious award was presented to Emomali Rahmon for his significant contribution to peace, the development of regional cooperation, and his consistent efforts to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding among peoples. Specifically, the award recognized the signing of a historic agreement to resolve state border issues between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, the adoption of the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship, and the promotion of global initiatives to protect water resources and climate.
The Leader of the Nation's contribution to the targeted implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028", the adoption of the resolution on the International Decade for Action for Cryospheric Science and the launch of the "Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations" initiative were also particularly emphasized.
It should be noted that this award was approved by order of the Rector of the United Nations University for Peace, Dr. Francisco Rojas Aravena, on May 19, 2026, and presented to the Leader of the Nation by the Permanent Representative of the University, Ambassador David Fernández Puyana. The award was established by the United Nations University for Peace to recognize outstanding peacebuilding individuals and states that have achieved exceptional success in peacebuilding.
This recognition is a testament to Emomali Rahmon's significant role in strengthening peace in the region, as well as his efforts to ensure global stability and advance the global water and climate agenda, which has been confirmed by one of the world's most authoritative international organizations.
