On May 11, an international symposium dedicated to ancient Khuttal and its role in the formation of the Tajik-Persian language and culture of Central Asia opened in Bokhtar. The event is taking place at the Bokhtar Palace of Culture, according to the press service of the Khatlon Region Governor.
The symposium was organized by the executive authority of the Khatlon region jointly with the Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage under the Government of Tajikistan. The forum's main topic was the history of ancient Khuttal, as well as its significance for the development of the language, culture, and civilization of the Tajik people.

The opening ceremony was attended by government officials, scientists, researchers, and specialists from Tajikistan and abroad. Participants included Khatlon Region Chairman Davlatali Said, Presidential Aide for Social Development and Public Relations Anvar Safarzoda, Director of the Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage Sherali Khodjazoda, as well as representatives from Russia and Iran.
During the opening, it was noted that ancient Khuttal occupies an important place in the region's history. Historical sources refer to the area as "Khuttal," "Khutalon," and "Khatlon," and it is considered one of the centers of the formation of the culture, language, and historical memory of the Tajik people.

Speaking at the event, Davlatali Said stated that in the years of independence, the study and preservation of historical and cultural heritage became a priority of state policy. According to him, Khuttal was not only a geographical region but also a major historical and cultural space, where the traditions of the region's peoples developed over centuries.
According to the program, the symposium will be held from May 10 to 14 in Dushanbe, Bokhtar, Nurek, and the districts of Vose, Khovaling, and Dangara. The event will include academic sessions, thematic discussions, and visits to historical sites.
The organizers note that the participation of Tajik and foreign scholars will allow for a deeper study of Khuttal's history and the presentation of the region's cultural heritage internationally.
