In Bern, Masahito Metoki, Director General of the International Postal Union, met with Parviz Noriyonov, First Deputy Head of the Communications Service under the Government of Tajikistan. The talks took place at the organization's official headquarters.
The meeting took place as part of a meeting of the Governing Council of the International Postal Union, organized at the initiative of the Tajik side.
The parties discussed cooperation issues, including fulfilling Tajikistan's obligations under its membership in the organization, the effective use of joint technical platforms, and other areas of collaboration. Particular attention was paid to the development of financial postal services, the expansion of digital trade, and the implementation of joint regional and international programs.
Current development opportunities for the postal industry were also discussed, including digitalization, improving the quality of services, and aligning postal operations with international standards. These issues were identified as key for international cooperation.
It was noted that the Strategy for the Development of the Communications Industry of Tajikistan until 2040 is consistent with the goals and priorities of the International Postal Union for 2026–2029 and creates the basis for further expansion of cooperation.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and implement new initiatives in the postal industry and communications services.
