A citizen named Saidakhmed Makhamadievich Akhmedov, born in 1960 and a resident of the Madaniyat-2 microdistrict, was detained in the Kushoniyon district. He had previously been convicted under Article 170 of the Criminal Code (bigamy or polygamy). This time, he was arrested on suspicion of committing immoral acts and engaging in sexual relations while abusing religious authority and the trust of others.
According to the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs, Saidakhmed Akhmedov was known among his followers by the nickname "Eshoni-karate." He had no religious education and engaged in occult practices, fortune-telling, magical rituals, "healing" with prayers and amulets, and also promised assistance in personal and business matters.
Investigators allege that he received women seeking help in his home without their relatives present. During prayers and rituals, exploiting their religious beliefs, he committed immoral acts against them and engaged in sexual intercourse. Furthermore, he allegedly pressured some women into marriage, after which he broke off the relationship.
The suspect himself, according to investigators, admits to marrying women for personal gain. A search of his mobile phone revealed that he had sent personal messages to numerous women.
Akhmedov reportedly had similar relationships with more than 11 women. He currently lives with three wives and has 20 children with 10 women, all of whom live in difficult circumstances.
According to law enforcement, to gain trust, he demonstrated physical exercises and elements of karate, including during rituals, which is how he received the nickname.
It was also established that he received money from citizens in the amount of 100 to 200 US dollars for performing rituals, and also demanded one sheep, which he used in performing rituals.
For 20 years, Akhmedov worked as an imam-khatib at a mosque in the Madaniyat-2 microdistrict, where, as noted, he called for honesty and piety; however, according to the investigation, he committed illegal actions.
A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 1 of Article 142 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The case materials have been collected, and an investigation is underway.
It is reported that a television report dedicated to this case will be shown in the coming days.
