Police in Tajikistan have solved two cases of theft and detained suspects, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
In the first case, a 22-year-old resident of Dushanbe was arrested on suspicion of theft. According to investigators, on August 6, 2024, she secretly entered the rented apartment of a 23-year-old resident of the Rudaki district. Gold jewelry and $300 were stolen, after which the suspect fled the scene. The total damage amounted to 30,000 somoni.
In the second case, a 31-year-old resident of the Matcha district was detained as a result of investigative operations. Investigators believe that on April 18, 2026, at approximately 10:00 PM, while intoxicated at the Shomi Dushanbe entertainment center, located in the 34th microdistrict of Khujand, he secretly stole a Xiaomi 13 Life mobile phone from an alcohol sales counter. He then fled the scene. Damages are estimated at 4,500 somoni.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Part 2 of Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. An investigation is ongoing.
