Three suspects in a series of fraudulent crimes have been detained in Tajikistan.

During operational investigative activities, Tajik police detained several individuals on suspicion of fraud. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The first person to be detained was a 30-year-old resident of Dushanbe. According to law enforcement, the suspect gained the trust of a 47-year-old woman from the capital and, between May and November 2025, stole 50,000 somoni from her in May, 450,000 somoni in June and July, and $50,000 in November 2025, under the pretext of engaging the victim as a business partner in the pharmaceutical trade. The suspect used the proceeds for his own benefit.

The second person detained was a 35-year-old resident of the Kushoniyon district. According to investigators, the suspect, while near the premises of Sifati Asr LLC, met with the victim and its manager, a 46-year-old resident of Dushanbe, near the Hissar Plaza building in Hissar. He introduced himself as a major landowner in the Kushoniyon district and took 180 tons of mineral fertilizers (Netroamafos, Karbonit, and Amafos) from the victim, worth 1,390,500 somoni, promising to repay the money by the end of August 2025. However, he failed to fulfill his obligations.

Additionally, a 47-year-old resident of the Panj district was detained during the investigation. In early October 2025, he gained the trust of a 40-year-old resident of the Dangara district, posing as an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan under a false name and surname, and promised to deliver an MTZ tractor from the Republic of Kazakhstan at a low and affordable price. In January 2026, he stole 160,000 somoni from the victim and spent the proceeds on personal expenses.

A criminal case has been opened against all those detained under Part 4 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the investigation is ongoing. Police officers are continuing to establish all the circumstances of the incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
