In the Bobojon Gafurov district of Sughd region, construction is underway on a modern anti-hail station to prevent potential hail risks and protect the horticultural and viticultural sectors. The work is being carried out with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and at the initiative of the Anti-Hail Service Department of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. This was reported by NIAT Khovar, citing the press service of the Sughd region governor.
It is noted that the construction of the anti-hail station is being carried out with financial support from the Asian Development Bank. This structure will play an important role in protecting orchards and vineyards, especially during the flowering and fruiting periods of agricultural crops.
The station is capable of protecting vast areas of orchards and vineyards over a distance of over 100 kilometers from the negative impact of hail. It is being constructed using modern equipment and will protect agricultural land in the cities and districts of Isfara, Bobojon Gafurov, Matcha, Asht, Kanibadam, Jabbor Rasulov, Spitamen, and Istaravshan.
Given that these areas are the republic's primary horticultural and viticultural regions, the introduction of modern crop protection methods and techniques is considered an important and cost-effective measure. Dispersing hazardous clouds and preventing hail will allow farmers to avoid crop losses.
It is also reported that the construction of a similar modern anti-hail station is planned in the Zeravshan Valley.
Specialists and officials from Sokhtmon-3, a limited liability company, are responsible for construction work at this site. Completion is scheduled for the start of this year's rainy season.
