Athletes from the Republic of Tajikistan won 22 medals at the Armwrestling and Para-Armwrestling World Cup, which began on January 30 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and runs until February 8. The National Paralympic Committee of Tajikistan reported this to NIAT Khovar.
The competition encompasses all age groups and provides athletes with the opportunity to compete in a variety of weight and performance categories. The prestigious international tournament brought together athletes with disabilities from 30 countries and became a vibrant showcase of the participants' strength, will, and skill.
The Tajikistan Paralympic team is participating in the competition. The country's Paralympic team consists of 16 athletes and two coaches. To date, Tajik athletes have won 22 medals.
In the left-handed competition, Tajik athletes showed the following results.
First places (3 medals): Ziyodullo Barotov – weight category 65 kg; Firuz Shamsudinov – weight category 90 kg; Akmal Kodirov – weight category over 90 kg.
Second places (3 medals): Farzona Gulomova – weight category 55 kg; Naimdzhon Khabibulloev – weight category over 100 kg; Khonbuva Mamatkulova – weight category 55 kg.
Third places (5 medals): Volidakhon Mukhamadieva – weight category 65 kg; Zaynura Shokimova – weight category 55 kg; Siyovush Talabshozoda – weight category 55 kg; Umed Nasridinov – weight category over 100 kg; Ismail Makhabatov – weight category 55 kg.
In right-handed competitions, Tajik athletes also achieved significant results.
First place (1 medal): Akmal Kodirov – weight category over 90 kg.
Second places (6 medals): Volidakhon Mukhamadieva – weight category 65 kg; Khonbuva Mamatkulova – weight category 55 kg; Zaynura Shokimova – weight category 55 kg; Ismail Makhabatov – weight category 55 kg; Naimdzhon Khabibulloev – weight category over 100 kg; Firuz Shamsudinov – weight category 90 kg.
Third places (4 medals): Farzona Gulomova – weight category 55 kg; Anvar Rozikov – weight category 80 kg; Zaynura Shokimova – performance in the "grand master" group, weight category 55 kg; Umed Nasridinov – weight category over 100 kg.
In total, Tajik athletes have won 22 medals to date, including 4 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze.
It is noted that Tajik athletes demonstrate high skill and strong will, honorably representing the country's sport on the international stage. This result is considered one of the record-breaking achievements in the history of Paralympic sports in the Republic of Tajikistan.
It is also reported that the Tajikistan national Paralympic team includes four women who, holding high positions, have made a significant contribution to raising the profile of Tajik sport on the international stage.
The leadership of the National Paralympic Committee of Tajikistan took the necessary measures to ensure the athletes' participation in world-class competitions and their participation in the tournament. Before their departure, a briefing and consultation meeting was held with the team members.
Members of the Tajikistan Paralympic team stated that, given the constant attention and support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, as well as the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the City of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali, they will actively participate in these prestigious international competitions and raise high the honor and flag of sovereign Tajikistan.
It is noted that the successful participation of Tajik athletes in competitions of this level provides a significant boost to the development of arm wrestling and para-arm wrestling in the country, and also contributes to the further strengthening of the Republic of Tajikistan's authority in the international sports community.
