Tajikistan and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development signed an agreement to finance the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station (Lot 2). The agreement amounts to $100 million .
The document was signed in Dubai by Tajikistan's Minister of Finance , Fayziddin Qahhorzoda , and the CEO of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development , Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi . Further details of the agreement were not disclosed.
It was previously reported that $6.4 billion would be required to fully complete the Rogun hydroelectric power station. The republic's authorities also reported that agreements worth over $2 billion have already been reached with development partners to complete the facility.
These include $650 million in World Bank grants, $500 million in loans from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank , $450 million in financing from the Islamic Development Bank and Arab funds , and a $50 million grant from the Qatar Fund for Development .
In addition, negotiations are currently underway to attract additional funding in the amount of $1.7 billion .
According to official data, from 2008 to the present, over 48.1 billion somoni have been allocated from the state budget and other sources for the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station.
