In Kyrgyzstan, convicted webcam studio founder Daniel Azhiev left Penal Colony No. 8, located in the village of Petrovka, by helicopter after his release.
The Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed the information. The agency clarified that the helicopter was rented by someone else, not Azhiev himself.
The helicopter rental cost 268,000 soms. The Ministry of Emergency Situations also clarified that the aircraft did not land directly on the correctional facility's grounds.
"The helicopter landed and took off from a platform located outside the facility," the department reported.
Earlier, a video circulated on social media showing a helicopter taking off near the colony's territory.
Daniel Azhiev was reportedly released early in February of this year. According to his family, this was made possible by a pardon from the President of Kyrgyzstan.
According to a source, in the fall of 2024, Azhiev was sentenced to nine years in prison with confiscation of property and a fine. He was found guilty of organizing brothels, distributing pornography, and causing property damage.
He was also banned from engaging in business activities for two years.
