Working meetings to review the progress of the CASA-1000 regional electricity transmission project were held in Dushanbe from April 18 to 20, 2026. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The meetings were attended by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, Daler Juma, the management of the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) company, representatives of the World Bank, and the contractor company, Kamani Engineering Corporation.
During the meetings, the minister emphasized that the implementation of the CASA-1000 project is of strategic importance for strengthening regional cooperation, increasing trust between participating countries, and ensuring the export of environmentally friendly electricity.


It was noted that, at present, construction work has been fully completed in three of the four countries participating in the project – the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan – while it continues in Afghanistan.
The parties discussed the progress of the work, technical and financial issues, further coordination of activities, and the completion date for the remaining work in Afghanistan. In this regard, representatives of Kamani Engineering Corporation stated that, according to the updated plan, work on the Afghan section will be completed in the spring of 2027, after which the commercial operation phase of the project will begin in the summer of 2027.



It was emphasized that the full completion of this important regional project will contribute to the development of the energy market, strengthening energy security and expanding economic cooperation between the participating countries.
Following the meetings, the parties signed a corresponding protocol.
