Law enforcement agencies in Tajikistan are investigating several incidents involving property crimes and a fatal traffic accident, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
According to police, a 30-year-old resident of Tursunzade, appointed as a sales representative at Sultoni Hakim LLC on March 2, 2026, and financially responsible, is suspected of embezzlement. According to investigators, during his employment, he collected 62,686 somoni from citizens by selling flour and, instead of depositing the funds into the company's cash register, misappropriated them. A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Part 1 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan, and the investigation is ongoing.
Separately, a case of fraud was reported. As a result of investigative operations, a 40-year-old Dushanbe resident, previously convicted under Article 247 of the Criminal Code, and a 40-year-old man, also residing in the capital, were detained. According to investigators, beginning in November 2025, they gained the trust of a 40-year-old resident of Tursunzade and received 620,000 somoni from him, promising to purchase four apartments in Dushanbe through a Qatari construction company. However, they used the funds for personal gain. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
Additionally, law enforcement agencies are investigating a traffic accident that occurred on April 21, 2026, at approximately 7:00 AM in the city of Vahdat. The driver of a Khovo truck, a 30-year-old resident of the city, lost control of the vehicle near the Avtostanciya market and struck a minor pedestrian, a girl born in 2021. The child sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital by the driver, but later died. An investigation into the incident is underway.
