On April 24, 2026, the 75th anniversary meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the CIS Member States was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, the press service of the Organization's Executive Committee reported.
The event was chaired by the Republic of Armenia, represented by the President of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia Stepan Mnatsakanyan.
The meeting was attended by heads and authorized representatives of the statistical services of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the UN Economic Commission for Europe.



The participants focused on the results of the Council's activities and those of the CIS Statistical Committee in 2025, including the implementation of the "Development of CIS Statistics" project. The key goals of this project include the development of statistical methodology in the Commonwealth, the creation of an international statistical hub, the use of microdata for modeling and forecasting, and the formation of a unified statistical community within the CIS.
In addition, the meeting discussed the implementation of statistical activities envisaged in the Action Plan for the implementation of the second stage (2026–2030) of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for the period up to 2030. Particular attention was paid to improving data collection from national statistical services in order to reduce its labor intensity, preparatory work for the use of big data in CIS statistics, the practice of maintaining tourism statistics in the CIS countries, and the preparation of anniversary statistical collections dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Following the meeting, the relevant decisions were made.
The next meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the CIS Member States is scheduled for October 2026 in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia.
