On January 23, 2026, the Moscow Office of the CIS Executive Committee hosted a meeting of the expert group to coordinate the draft Concept for the Digital Transformation of Forestry Sectors in the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Action Plan for its implementation. The documents were developed by the Forestry Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and are aimed at developing further cooperation in forestry sectors across the CIS, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting was held via videoconference with the participation of representatives from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee and the Belarusian State Technological University, the basic organization of the CIS member states for education in the field of forestry and the forest industry.
The event was chaired by Mikhail Myskin, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee. During the meeting, experts thoroughly reviewed the proposals and amendments submitted and approved the draft Concept and Action Plan. Following the approval process by the governments of the CIS member states, the draft documents will be submitted for consideration to the highest bodies of the Commonwealth in accordance with established procedures.
The projects aim to expand intergovernmental cooperation, study and disseminate the experience of CIS member states and international practices in developing the forestry industry in the context of digital transformation. Specifically, they envisage the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for high-precision surveys of forest areas, the implementation and application of geographic information systems, automated logging management and forest resource accounting systems, forest management planning, and the use of satellite monitoring for real-time forest health monitoring.
