The expert group meeting to finalize the draft Action Plan for the implementation of the Concept of Cooperation between the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in the Field of Cancer Control for 2027–2030 was held online on January 20, 2026, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The discussion was attended by experts from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the Association of Directors of Oncology and Radiology Centers and Institutes of the CIS and Eurasia, the umbrella organization of CIS member states in the field of oncology, and the CIS Executive Committee.
Following the meeting, the participants finalized and agreed on the draft Action Plan for the implementation of the Concept of Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Field of Combating Cancer for 2027–2030, as well as the draft Decision of the CIS Economic Council on this issue.
A decision was made to send the materials of the expert group meeting to the CIS member states for consideration, including for internal coordination.
As a reminder, cooperation among Commonwealth states to consolidate efforts in the fight against malignant diseases is based on the Concept of Cooperation in the Field of Combating Cancer, approved by the Council of CIS Heads of Government in 2016.
The document defines the key principles for joint work by Commonwealth states in the area of prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of oncological diseases, as well as medical, economic, legal, and social measures aimed at preserving and strengthening public health and supporting an active, long-term life.
The action plan for implementing the Concept aims to improve public health indicators by reducing mortality from malignant neoplasms, increasing life expectancy, and improving the quality of life of patients with cancer.
