The national "Best Housewife" competition will be held in Tajikistan on the second Saturday of April 2026, according to the organizers' press service. The competition is based on the "Schedule of anniversaries, festivals and exhibitions, holidays and competitions of a cultural and educational nature, as well as folk traditions and crafts in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026," approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated January 2, 2026.
The organizers note that the national "Best Housewife" competition is being held to implement the instructions and orders of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to more widely revive lost national dishes, as well as to popularize the culinary skills and abilities of Tajik women and girls.
The first stage of the competition will be held at the mahallas, villages, settlements, towns, jamoats, cities, and districts, with the best homemakers to be selected. The second stage will be held at the regional level, in the city of Dushanbe, and in cities and districts of republican subordination between February and March. The final, national stage of the competition is scheduled to take place in Dushanbe, with the participation of representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, winners of previous stages, and talented homemakers and craftswomen from across the country.
In 2026, the competition was held for the eighth time at the initiative of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in collaboration with relevant ministries and agencies.
The main goals of the competition are to encourage and attract talented housewives, revive lost national and local dishes, develop the preparation of national dishes in restaurants and canteens, prepare girls for independent life, and improve the culture of housekeeping and aesthetic taste in decorating the festive table.
As a reminder, in 2025, the competition was held in six categories: "Best Table Setting," "Revival of Lost National Dishes," "Cooking Kurutob," "Cooking Rubich" (a national dish), "Cooking a National Salad," and "Cooking a National Pastry." Following the competition, the winners received awards and recognition for their culinary achievements.
