In Tajikistan, police have uncovered two cases of fraud that exploited citizens' trust, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reported.
A 41-year-old resident of the Farkhor district filed a complaint with the Rudaki District Department of Internal Affairs No. 1. He reported that around 2023, two local residents, known as "Mustafa" and "Mujtabo," defrauded him of 441,048 somoni. The perpetrators promised to provide him with apartments in a multi-story building located in the village of Elok, M. Tursunzade settlement, Rudaki district. For two years, neither the apartments nor the money were returned to the victim.
During the course of operational investigative activities, police officers established that the crime was committed by men aged 50 and 34 from the specified area.
In the B. Gafurov district, an investigation also revealed that a 41-year-old Khujand resident with a prior criminal record gained the trust of a 50-year-old Khujand resident on July 18, 2020, posing as a businessman. Under the pretext of importing animal feed from Uzbekistan, he embezzled 290,000 somoni, which he used for personal expenses.
A criminal case has been opened on the basis of Part 4 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan regarding the latest crime, and an investigation is underway.
