Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk's net worth has exceeded $700 billion. According to Forbes magazine, the American businessman's net worth is currently estimated at $749 billion.
Just five days ago, Forbes estimated Elon Musk's net worth at $677 billion, calling him the first person in the world to surpass $600 billion. The publication notes that this dramatic increase is not due to an actual increase in the businessman's income, but to a revision to the methodology used to calculate his wealth.
The basis for the change in valuation was the Delaware Supreme Court's decision to overturn a lower court's ruling invalidating Musk's compensation in the form of Tesla stock options granted to him by the company's board of directors in 2018. These options are currently valued at $139 billion.
During the legal proceedings, Forbes only included 50 percent of the value of the options in its calculation of Elon Musk's net worth. After the court's decision, their value was fully included in the calculation, leading to a sharp increase in his net worth.
Elon Musk first topped Forbes' list of the world's richest businessmen in January 2021, when his net worth was estimated at $190 billion. That figure rose to $200 billion in September of that year, and to $300 billion in November.
Elon Musk surpassed the $400 billion mark in December 2024 and the $500 billion mark in October 2025.
