On Friday, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the High-Level International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, currently underway in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, calling for greater mutual respect, trust, and understanding in the international community, chinadaily reported.
In the letter, Xi Jinping noted that global challenges continue to arise, conflicts and clashes flare up in various regions of the world, and emphasized that the world needs to strengthen trust and peaceful relations more than ever.
"History shows that the more unstable the international situation becomes, the more the international community must unite and support each other," the statement said.
The Chinese President stressed the need to resolutely safeguard the authority and status of the United Nations, resolve disputes exclusively through peaceful means, and oppose hegemony, bullying, and actions aimed at gaining personal gain at the expense of other countries.
Xi Jinping called on all countries to engage in broad consultations, make joint contributions and achieve common benefits to overcome the trust deficit, ensure fairness and justice within the framework of the international rule of law, and develop solidarity and cooperation through multilateralism.
"We must continue to adhere to the principle of jointly discussing global issues, jointly maintaining international order, and ensuring that governance outcomes are accessible to all," the Chinese leader emphasized.
The letter also mentioned the Global Governance Initiative proposed in September 2025, under which Beijing is willing to work with all countries to ensure world peace, promote common development, and build a community with a shared future for humanity.
The President of the People's Republic of China expressed unwavering support for Turkmenistan in pursuing a policy of permanent neutrality, noting that China and Turkmenistan are like-minded friends and partners committed to mutually beneficial cooperation.
It is noted that in March 2024, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust.
