The Afghan Foreign Ministry, under the Taliban government, condemned the killing of three Chinese workers in Tajikistan's Khatlon region, TOLO News reported, citing Zia Ahmad Takal, head of the Foreign Ministry's public relations department.
He said the attack was carried out by "elements seeking to create chaos, instability and mistrust between countries in the region."
The Ministry expressed its condolences to the people of China and Tajikistan and stated its readiness to cooperate and exchange information with the authorities of these countries to identify those responsible for the incident.
On November 26, the Tajik Foreign Ministry announced the killing of three Chinese workers. The deceased were employees of the Shokhin SM mining company. The incident occurred in the Shamsiddin Shokhin district of Tajikistan's Khatlon region. The attackers, located in Afghanistan, used firearms and a drone loaded with grenades.
Meanwhile, Afghan media are reporting a new incident on the Afghan-Tajik border. According to Afghanistan International, two Chinese citizens were killed in Tajikistan on the evening of November 30 while working on a road in the Shadak district on the border with Afghanistan. The attack originated from the village of Razavi in Maimai district of Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan, where the workers were attacked with small arms fire. Sources say Taliban border forces, who arrived in Maimai from other districts, were apparently involved in the attack.
Meanwhile, on December 1, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a working meeting with the heads of the country's security and law enforcement agencies.
