In India, 12-year-old Kajal Gond died after her teacher forced her to do 100 squats as punishment for being ten minutes late, NDTV reported.
According to media reports, the girl developed lower back pain after performing squats. Kajal's condition continued to worsen after returning home, and she required medical attention. She was initially hospitalized in Nallasopara Hospital and then transferred to a hospital in Mumbai, where she died during treatment.
Kajal Gond's parents believe the tragedy was caused by punishment. They say the girl was wearing a school backpack while doing squats, which increased the strain and back pain.
The exact cause of death was not stated in the publications. The media also did not report the diagnosis for which the girl was hospitalized, how long she spent in hospital, or whether she had any underlying medical conditions.
The case sparked public outcry and discussion about disciplinary methods in Indian schools.
