Russian troops continued airstrikes on Ukrainian territory on the night of November 18. A 17-year-old girl was killed in a missile strike on the town of Berestyn in the Kharkiv region, the Kharkiv Regional Military-Civil Administration reported. A minor with serious injuries died in the hospital. Nine other casualties are known, seven of whom were hospitalized with blast injuries, and two others suffered acute stress, according to Oleg Sinegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military-Civil Administration, on his Telegram channel.
In the city of Dnipro, Russian military drones attacked the railway station, causing several trains to be delayed. The blast wave damaged windows on the station building, and the buildings housing the regional editorial office of Suspilne and Ukrainian Radio were also damaged. Part of the region was left without power, according to the Ukrainian railway company Ukrzaliznytsia.
Meanwhile, a blackout continues in the Russian-controlled self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on Tuesday following attacks on its power infrastructure. Denis Pushilin, the Russian-appointed head of the region, reported that on the night of November 18, the Ukrainian army attacked the Zuyevskaya and Starobeshevo thermal power plants (TPPs). The damage caused power outages to many populated areas, and boiler houses and filtration stations were shut down.
The Zuyevskaya Thermal Power Plant is located 40 kilometers from Donetsk, in the town of Zuhres. Local residents reported multiple explosions and a subsequent fire. Power was also cut off in neighboring Ilovaisk, home to approximately 15,000 people before the war. The Starobeshevskaya Thermal Power Plant is located in the village of Novy Svet, approximately 20 kilometers from Donetsk. Both power plants were previously shelled in early 2023.
Earlier, on November 17, a nighttime attack by Ukrainian drones on the DPR's energy infrastructure left approximately half a million people without power in Donetsk, Makiivka, Horlivka, and Yasynuvata, and boilers stopped working. By evening, power had been partially restored. Pushilin warned of possible rolling blackouts in the near future.
