On November 12, the third meeting of Central Asian transport ministers took place in Tashkent as part of the 21st International Transport and Logistics Exhibition – TransLogistica Uzbekistan 2025. Azim Ibrokhim, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan, participated in the event and spoke, according to the ministry's press service.
The meeting was opened by the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ilham Makhkamov.
During the meeting, issues related to the construction of new highways and railways, the creation of new and expansion of existing international air routes, as well as the need to deepen cooperation between the countries of the region in the field of transport and logistics were discussed.
Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, noted that in recent years, Central Asian states have demonstrated a strong commitment to developing cooperation in transport and connectivity. He emphasized that the region's countries share the understanding that transport is a critical factor in the sustainable development, peace, and prosperity of Central Asia.
The Minister described the signing of the Agreement on Strengthening Land Transport Connectivity in Central Asia, which was concluded during the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the region on September 14–15, 2023, in Dushanbe, as a significant step in this direction.
"We view this positive trend as an important factor in sustainable economic growth, increasing the region's competitiveness, and expanding its participation in global supply chains," he said.
The Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tatarstan emphasized that the development of trade and economic ties in the region requires accelerated integration of national transport systems into the international transport network. The main goal of this work is to create efficient and secure international transport corridors that ensure the free and uninterrupted movement of people, goods, and services.
"The Republic of Tajikistan confirms its readiness to continue to actively contribute to the development of a modern, green, and digital transport system in Central Asia that serves the interests of all our peoples and future generations," emphasized Azim Ibrokhim.
As a reminder, the first meeting of Central Asian transport ministers took place on September 13, 2023, in Dushanbe as part of the 5th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the region. The second meeting took place on August 8, 2024, in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, as part of the 6th Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders.
