The grand opening of the Center for Water Diplomacy at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe. The ceremony was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan , Sirojiddin Mukhriddin , who delivered a speech and noted the significance of the event.
The opening of the Center coincides with the 25th anniversary of support for the first initiative of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon , in the area of rational use of water resources. Specifically, this initiative included the proclamation of 2003 as the International Year of Freshwater , which was unanimously endorsed at the 55th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2000.
In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of the President of Tajikistan's initiatives in advancing the global water agenda and developing water diplomacy. He noted that the establishment of the Center, with its scientific and educational focus, is an important and timely step in strengthening Tajikistan's role in international cooperation on water resources and sustainable development.
The Centre for Water Diplomacy aims to become a platform for training specialists in the field of international water law, scientific research, and educational and practical events aimed at effective water resources management and strengthening international cooperation.
