The Khatlon Invest 2025 International Investment Forum, a platform for showcasing the investment potential of Tajikistan's largest region, has opened in Bokhtar.
Khatlon Region Governor Davlatali Said warmly welcomed forum participants and toured an exhibition of agricultural, industrial, and folk products from the region, according to the Khatlon Region press service.
The forum's plenary session was held in the hall of the Khatlon International Development and Innovation Center with the participation of the country's First Deputy Prime Minister, Khokim Kholikzoda, representatives of the government, ministries, diplomatic corps, domestic and foreign investors, as well as official delegations from more than 20 countries, including Russia, Iran, China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
Forum participants watched a short documentary about investment opportunities in the Khatlon region. During the opening, the regional governor emphasized that the forum is an important platform for constructive dialogue, exploring new forms of cooperation, and expanding economic and trade ties.
"Economic development is impossible without reliable cooperation between the public and private sectors. Under the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon, private sector development is one of the country's economic policy priorities. We are guided by strategic documents, including the National Development Strategy until 2030 and the Sustainable Economic Development Strategy for 2023–2037, as well as global trends such as increased investment in green technologies and the digitalization of the economy," noted Davlatali Said.
The regional governor noted that Khatlon is one of the country's dynamically developing regions, home to nearly 4 million people, 60% of whom are employable and skilled workers. The region boasts a well-developed transportation infrastructure, two international airports, a railway, and modern highways.
Particular attention was paid to investment opportunities in agriculture, industry, textiles, energy, and tourism. Khatlon Region accounts for over 60% of Tajikistan's agricultural production and is a key center for the production of organic produce, cotton, vegetables, fruits, and grapes.
"We are ready to cooperate in agricultural processing, construction of cold storage facilities, and logistics centers. In Khatlon, every investment is carefully considered, and every project is implemented with maximum results," emphasized Davlatali Said.
Representatives of government agencies, international financial institutions, and leading business circles are participating in the forum. Issues of investment in sustainable regional development, digitalization of public services, and the creation of an effective value chain in agriculture are discussed.
The forum will last two days. On November 12, participants will visit the Dangara Free Economic Zone, industrial facilities in the cities of Bokhtar and Norak, and key regional facilities.
It's worth noting that this is the second time the forum has been held. Last year, participants signed cooperation agreements totaling over $165 million, confirming the region's high investment potential.
